Institute of Directors of Zambia (IoDZ) President Mrs. Miriam Chiyaba has urged directors and senior leaders to be custodians of institutional vision, values and strategy, stressing the need for both institutional excellence and risk resilience.
Speaking at the launch of the Senior Leadership Development Program 2025 at Texila American University Zambia, in partnership with the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, Mrs. Chiyaba hailed the initiative as “a bold and visionary step towards building leaders who will shape the future of our institutions and our nation.
“Excellence is the result of clear vision, deliberate choices and a culture of continuous improvement,” Mrs Chiyaba said. “It means championing innovation, demanding accountability, and aligning decisions with our mission and the needs of our communities.”
“The question is not if we will face risk, but when and how prepared we will be. Directors must anticipate risks, strengthen governance systems, and remain agile without losing their core purpose,” she noted.

Mrs. Chiyaba concluded by challenging leaders to focus on lasting impact.
The Senior Leadership Development Program will equip leaders to inspire trust, uphold ethical leadership, and drive innovation for Zambia’s sustainable development.
