The Institute of Directors of Zambia (IoDZ) successfully hosted a two‑day Corporate Governance Masterclass from 29th to 30th July 2025, drawing over 35 participants from diverse organisations and professional backgrounds.
In her opening remarks, IoDZ Executive Director Nchimunya Michelo Silenga underscored the vital role of directors in shaping Zambia’s leadership culture.
“Directors are at the heart of championing good corporate governance, ethical leadership and sustainable organisational growth,” she said.
Across the two days, participants explored critical governance themes aimed at strengthening board effectiveness and leadership impact. Key sessions focused on enhancing board dynamics and overall functioning, embedding ethics and corporate social responsibility into decision‑making, engaging shareholders more effectively, strengthening risk management and internal control frameworks, and aligning executive compensation with long‑term organisational goals.
The programme was facilitated by orporate governance experts and blended expert-led presentations, interactive discussions and peer‑to‑peer learning. This approach equipped participants with practical strategies to tackle real‑world governance challenges.
The Masterclass concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, recognising participants’ dedication to continuous professional development and corporate governance excellence.
IoDZ reaffirmed its commitment to fostering ethical leadership and strong governance as powerful drivers of Zambia’s socio‑economic progress.
“We believe that equipping leaders with governance knowledge and tools is an investment in the future of our organisations and our nation,” Ms. Silenga said.
